Position:
Examines new clients or clients with medical conditions, in a
secured psychiatric facility, by using standard examination procedures to ensure
appropriate treatment and referrals. Plans and reviews care and treatment of
clients by continual assessment and updating with nursing and psychiatric staff
in order to achieve medical objectives. Prescribes medications by using standard
pharmacological procedures in order to facilitate treatment and care of
individual clients. Works with Nursing Director to supervise nursing staff
engaged in the care of clients. Must be or become knowledgeable of Nevada
Revised Statutes applicable to the practice of medicine in Nevada State
facilities and programs.
Requirements:
The minimum qualifications for this position require
graduation from an accredited school of medicine with one year of internship
in an approved hospital and three years of experience in the practice of
medicine or equivalent combination of both.
Sr. Physician positions are subject to pre-employment
screening for controlled substances.
The position at Mental Health/Developmental Services
requires fingerprinting and a background investigation through the FBI and
NHP.
Salary and Benefits:
Annual salary up to $128,383. Employee benefits include paid
annual leave, paid sick leave, health and dental insurance, and the state
retirement plan. Other optional benefits are available, including a deferred
compensation program.
