Senior Psychiatrist
Department of Corrections
(Unclassified Position)
Recruiting for:
Future full-time and
part-time vacancies located at the Department of Corrections, Administrative
Division, Medical Section in the following areas; Carson City, Ely, Indian
Springs, North Las Vegas and Lovelock, Nevada. Ely is a maximum security prison.
THE POSITION:
Under administrative
direction, plans, directs and participates in providing medical care to inmates;
may supervise a subordinate staff providing professional medical services or
patient care.
REQUIREMENTS: Graduation
from an accredited school of medicine
approved by the Nevada Board of Medical Examiners with one year of internship in
an approved hospital and two years of practice in the field of psychiatry; OR
written confirmation that applicant possesses the necessary qualifications to be
admitted to the certification examination of the American Board of Psychiatry
and Neurology; OR certification by
the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
SPECIAL NOTES AND
REQUIREMENTS: Persons offered employment in this class must first
submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. 2) Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, requires fingerprinting and a background investigation through the
FBI and NCIC. 3) A valid license to practice medicine in the State of Nevada is
required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout
employment.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Annual salary up to $166,763 (Employee/Employer Paid Retirement). Employee
benefits include paid annual leave, paid sick leave, health, and the state
retirement plan. Other optional benefits are available, including a deferred
compensation program.
